Setting the
time and changing the battery
|
|
Setting
the time
- Remove the clock insert by lifting it from the
bronze clock body with a toothpick or a wooden stir stick from
Starbucks or your favorite coffee house.
- Gently remove the gray rubber retainer gasket
from the back of the insert.
- Slip your fingernail behind the time setting
crown, and push it our just until it clicks.
- Set the current time, and push the crown back
in the normal position.
- Replace the gray rubber retaining gasket.
- The white wax on the back of the insert keeps
it nice and tight when it is replaced in the clock body. I recommend
replacing the wax.
- Moisten the edge of the rubber gasket, and
replace the insert with a "twisting-push" motion with your
thumbs, and orient the face so 12 o'clock is at the top.
- Stir your coffee, sit back, and enjoy your desk
clock.

Changing
the battery
Changing the battery requires some dexterity because
the movements in these clocks are watch-type movements. You may want to
have you jeweler replace it for you.
- Remove the clock insert by lifting it from the
bronze clock body with a toothpick or a wooden stir stick from
Starbucks or your favorite coffee house.
- Gently remove the gray rubber retainer gasket
from the back of the insert.
- Locate the small notch in the back of the clock
case and gently lift the rear bezel with a straight pin or an
eyeglass screwdriver.
- Look closely at the battery with a
magnifying glass to see how it fits in the clock movement. Notice that
the battery is held in place with a tiny metal spring.
- Pry the battery out from the outside edge with
that little eyeglass screwdriver.
- Replace the battery, + side up, by slipping it
under one edge of the metal spring, and then pushing the other edge
down into place.
- Make sure the clock's second hand is moving,
and push the rear bezel back in place.
- Set the proper time.
- Replace the gray rubber retaining gasket.
- The white wax on the back of the insert keeps
it nice and tight when it is replaced in the clock body. I recommend
replacing the wax.
- Moisten the edge of the rubber gasket, and
replace the insert with a "twisting-pushing" motion with
your thumbs, and orient the face so 12 o'clock is at the top.
- Put the magnifying glass and that little
screwdriver away.
